School development campaign

"Abingdon School used MCC to develop and implement a combination postal and email fundraising campaign for our 2013-14 Science Centre Appeal which in the end raised £9 for every £1 of direct expense. In a relatively small agency, you get all the essential services of a large agency, but at better value for money. Some services are in-house, some out-sourced, but all are delivered seamlessly to the client. Creative work is very strong and grounded in strategy; design execution is attractive and meticulously prepared. The entire process was managed professionally, everything was delivered on time, and there were no cost over-runs. A great choice for Abingdon School – highly recommended."

Michael Triff, Director of Philanthropy, Abingdon School

The challenge

Abingdon School is one of the oldest independent schools in the country. Development of school facilities is critical for sustaining the highest standards and its excellent reputation. The school achieves superb results in science despite severely out-dated and overcrowded facilities. A campaign was needed to help raise funds from parents, alumni and the wider school community.

Our approach

MCC developed a creative, eye-catching and witty multi-media campaign, delivered through a series of direct mail and email shots. Video, produced by students, was an important part of the strategy to integrate the campaign into the school community rather than a sideline activity. A brand identity was also produced for the campaign.

Despite the difficult economic conditions in recent times, the campaign successfully met its ambitious fundraising target. With a highly impressive ROI of £9 for every pound spent, the investment in the campaign will benefit 1000s of scientists for years to come.
