Independent school marketing

The challenge

With excellent academic achievement and a broad extracurricular programme to complement it, St Helen and St Katharine is a popular and successful independent day school. But, in a highly competitive area and an uncertain economic climate, the school needed to strengthen its brand and improve its marketing to stay ahead.

Our approach

An evolution of the school’s brand was the starting point; drawing on strong historic elements in a simple, modern way and creating brand guidelines to ensure consistent usage. MCC also helped to develop the school’s communications strategy and materials, including:

Website – design of a responsive website with a tile system on the homepage to encourage visitors to 'Discover St Helen's', and an intuitive navigation to enable content to be found quickly. Visit site.

Your St Helen’s – conception and development of a unique, interactive online tool that allows potential students and parents to create their own online prospectus, tailored to their interests.

Advertising – creation of an advertising campaign that stands out from those typical of independent schools, with its unique placement and eye-catching headlines.

Prospectus – the prospectus remains central to the school’s communications with new parents, with digital media working in harmony with print to achieve best results. As part of the project we also re-branded the Sixth Form to show how different it is to the main school – a move specifically intended to retain existing students.

Other materials produced by MCC include termly newsletters, email marketing, development campaign, open day marketing materials and large-format graphics.
